II Edition – 2011 «fashion in the garden»

The International Garden Festival of Allariz closes its second edition dedicated to fashion with a very positive balance.

The second edition, opened since 14 May to 13 November, received 56,500 visitors who came to Allariz to know the seven ephemeral proposals dedicated to fashion. August was the month of the biggest attendance with 15,000 visitors. These figures suppose an income of €25,600, “an important income indicative of the Festival’s success with visitors” explained the mayor Francisco García.

The implementation of the International Garden Festival of Allariz pursues, since the beginning, several objectives. Among them we can emphasize the contribution to the economic revitalisation, increasing the tourist attraction of Allariz.

The important activity generated around the landscape gardening initiative, such as the fashion show of the Felicidad Duce Design and Fashion School, the flower market located in the venue for the weekend, as well as the meetings and conferences of the Asociación Galega de Jardineros (Galician Association of Gardeners), or the first contest of balconies which decorated houses, establishments and public areas of the village, has contributed to the economic revitalisation and to the empowerment of the landscape gardening as values connected with Allariz.

The Council of Allariz planned to extend four plots, for 2012, and to regulate and update the ticket price.

Popular vote

The Festival’s visitors have the opportunity of participating with their vote by choosing their favourite garden. The popular vote decided three winners:

1st “El color de la pasarela” (“The catwalk’s colour”) by the Galician José Souto
2nd “Colorshow” by the Portuguese Ana Rita Morais and Paulo Tavares
3rd “La muñeca” (“The doll”), a French proposal of Enmanuel de France and Arnaud Dambrine
