11- POR ART GARDEN
Edition 2024 – Garden 11
The Pop Art Garden concept is born from the interpretation of the Pop Art movement, characterized by an amalgam of shapes, colours and vibrant textures emblematic of its time. The comic strip acts as a center piece to shape the structures and paths of the garden, merging with the plants which have intense colour palettes that are distinctive of this artistic movement.
Pop Art had its roots in England in the 1950s, with Richard Hamilton as a pioneer, who presented the collage “Just what is it that makes today’s homes so different, so appealing?”. Its aesthetic is defined by the representation of everyday life through posters, industrial materials and advertising. The movement moved to the United States, reaching its peak in the late 1980s.
The garden tour begins with a warm welcome in a classic comic book speech bubble, introducing a brief account of the history of this movement. Throughout the narrative, prominent artistic icons such as Andy Warhol and Keith Haring emerge, who integrate into the landscape through emblematic landmarks of their works, generating dynamism in the surroundings.
The yellow chairs present in the garden symbolize the mass production of everyday items, and their repetitive arrangement is intended to remind us of the repetition of items in daily life.
This space is designed to establish an interactive connection with the viewer, allowing them to aesthetically immerse themselves in masses of vibrant colours and enjoy a unique visual experience.
